Using this shield as a guide, I'd make the larger cortosis shield give the same deflection bonus but without the extra talent (and keep the armor proficiency requirement, possibly bumping it up to Medium to match the cortosis gauntlet), in exchange for explicitly taking up the hand using the shield (the shield gauntlet doesn't). There's also the Kilian Ranger energy shield-gauntlet in the Rebellion Era book, which is a buckler-like energy shield that requires a talent to get a +2 deflection bonus once per turn essentially against an attack that you're allowed a dodge bonus against (aware of the attack, not flat-footed), as well as armor proficiency to use the thing. In Star Wars, it's of course mostly a small energy field, so the cost of an all-metal shield would be higher than the given 500 credits. Provides a +5 cover bonus when fighting defensively, and is about a meter by half a meter in size. There are rules for a riot shield on page 77 of Threats of the Galaxy. I now this fighting style seems particularly out of place but now it has piqued my curiosity. My main question is: is there anything on Cortosis shields? My secondary question is: would there be some sort of talent tree that would complement the use of such a shield?

I have found many things regarding cortosis weave armor but not specifically shields.

While I am not against the idea, I actually thought it was pretty interesting, I could not come up with anything regarding a cortosis shield.

I have just recently began to prepare a Star Wars Saga Edition campaign and one of my players has came up to me asking about using a cortosis shield like Darth Desolous. I have searched for a similar topic in the forums to no avail and my google-fu has failed me too so I really am sorry if I am just blatantly missing an already available topic. Hello all, I am a long time reader of the forums and have found them to be most useful for many of my miscellaneous questions.
